Indonesia Govt Appoints New Board Members Of Batam Free Trade

JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) – The Indonesia government has appointed and installed new executive board members of the Batam Free Trade and Free Port Zone (PBPB Batam). The new board members (PB Batam) were installed by the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Darmin Nasution Tuesday (April 5).

The new board members comprise of professionals and bureaucrats. The new board members are as follows:

1. Hatanto Reksodipoetro, Chairman of PBPB Batam;
2. Agus Tjahajana Wirakusumah, deputy chairman
3. Sigit Priadi Pramudito, member/Deputy for General Administration;
4. Junino Jahja, S.E., M.B.A., member/Deputy for Development Planning;
5. R.C. Eko Santoso Budianto, member and Deputy Planning for Facilities;
6. Purba Robert M. Sianipar, member/deputy for Other Facilities;
7. Gusmardi Bustami, member/Deputy for General Public Service.

President Joko Widodo has given task to the National Council for Bonded Zone (DKN) to improve investment climate in Batam and reform BP Batam. The government is planning to carry out audit on BP Batam.

Business players in the free trade zone of Batam which have had the privilege on tax and customs facilities will still get the same privileges. The government hints that it may transform Batam FTZ into special economic zone (SEZ).
